Your private driver will pick you up directly at your hotel. We'll head north out of the city to discover two of Cambodia's most fascinating sites.
🏔️ Phnom Kulen – The sacred mountain of the Khmer kings
Phnom Kulen is not only a natural wonder but the place where it all began. Known in the Angkorian era as Mahendraparvata, it was here in 802 AD that King Jayavarman II declared himself "King of Kings," effectively founding the Khmer Empire.
🙏 Preah Ang Thom – The Reclining Buddha
In the 16th century, Phnom Kulen became an important Buddhist sanctuary. Here, artisans carved the Reclining Buddha at Preah Ang Thom pagoda. It is one of the largest reclining Buddhas in the world, lying on its left side and carved directly into the living rock of the mountain.
💧 The River of a Thousand Lingas
We'll visit the famous "River of a Thousand Lingas," a sandstone riverbed completely carved with hundreds of sacred Hindu symbols. The water flowing over these carvings is considered blessed.
💦 Phnom Kulen Waterfall
We'll then arrive at the spectacular Phnom Kulen Waterfall. Here you'll have the opportunity to cool off with a refreshing swim, surrounded by forest and the relaxing sound of the water. Your driver will wait for you and can recommend the best spots.
🍽️ Free time for lunch at a local restaurant
Break for lunch at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy authentic Cambodian flavors. Your driver can suggest good local options based on your preference.
🌿 Beng Mealea Temple – In the heart of the jungle
From Phnom Kulen mountain, we'll drive to Beng Mealea Temple. The journey takes approximately one hour and takes us to one of the most atmospheric and least restored sites in the region.
🏛️ The temple swallowed by the jungle
Beng Mealea appears as a recently discovered site. Branches, roots, and leaves wrap around every stone, creating a unique atmosphere. To preserve this sense of discovery, the temple has been intentionally left in its original state, with no reconstruction work. The architectural style is similar to Angkor Wat, and it was built in the early 12th century under King Suryavarman II.
🚶 The suspended walkway and the moat
A wooden walkway allows you to safely explore among the collapsed galleries and courtyards. You'll also be able to admire the large moat surrounding the complex.
🕔 17:30 – Return to Siem Reap and end of service
After the visit, your driver will take you back to your hotel in Siem Reap. The tour ends around 5:30 PM, leaving you the rest of the evening free.
